Michael Henningsen of the Weekly Alibi spoke of Kari and Todd and their CD, "The Road of Dreams" in his Oct. 11-17, 2001 column. Here is what he said:

All That Jazz: Local vocalist Kari Simmons and pianist/vocalist Todd Lowry have released their collaborative debut, a platter of 15 jazz standards by composers ranging from Irving Berlin to Van Morrison called "The Road of Dreams". The duo has been a regular attraction at the Martini Grille on Thursdays, and their live dynamic translates wonderfully to disc. Simmons' range is world-class and her voice is remarkable in timbre, adding her own unique context to the songs she so gracefully tackles. Lowry, a professional music teacher and veteran musician, provides the perfect, thoughtful accompaniment.
