David Steinberg of the Albuquerque Journal reviewed Kari and Todd's CD, "The Road of Dreams" on October 19, 2001. He gave the CD 4 stars.
Here is what he said:

Kari Simmons posseses such a commanding singing voice that you will want to give it your undivided attention. And this is a reaction to Simmons' recorded voice.
She is the primary singer on the newly released duet album "The Road of Dreams", on which Todd Lowry is pianist and occasional vocalist. He is accomplished at both.
Simmons, an Alamogordo native, covers a group of mostly standards that have been sung many times before, but rarely with a voice that pulls up a range of such deeply felt emotions. She has the power and control to make her voice be soothingly sentimental ("My Foolish Heart", "One For My Baby"), soulful ("At Last"), sorrowful ("Autumn Leaves") and bouncy ("Straighten Up and Fly Right").
She and Lowry are a kick singing duo on "Route 66" and "Moondance".
I can well imagine that hearing Simmons in person would probably make your heart skip a beat. Or two.
