About Todd Lowry
Todd Lowry has been a full-time pianist, arranger and composer for his entire adult life.
Todd was born and grew up in Worthington, Minnesota. He studied piano from age nine and began playing music professionally at age 15 when he sang and played bass in the popular regional rock band Rigor Mortis.
Todd earned a BA in music from Macalester College (St. Paul, Minnesota), a Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas and a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Todd currently is music director at Christ Unity Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a musician with the National Dance Institute. He presents piano workshops throughout the state and writes music instructional publications for the nation's largest music publisher, Hal Leonard Corporation. He has arranged hundreds of music publications and his arrangements once appeared on a Grammy-nominated album.
His previous experience includes being Director of Business Affairs for Hal Leonard Corporation, Music Supervisor at Busch Gardens Theme Park and music critic for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
He recorded an album of his original spiritual songs in 1996 entitled "Harmony of the World." Todd has composed songs and musical scores for film and television, theatrical productions and several dance companies.
His favorite pianists include Keith Jarrett, Dave McKenna, Bill Evans, George Winston, Professor Longhair, James Booker, Dr. John, Dave Frishberg, Vince Guaraldi, Dave Brubeck, Horace Silver, Marcia Ball and Dick Hyman.
He lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his partner Jane, and their two dogs, Buddy and Lucy, and two cats, Rocky and Blue.
